Powerlifting Team Kicks Off Season with Strong Performances at First Meet

The Lansing High School powerlifting team opened its season on Saturday with its first meet of the year in Eudora, and the results were impressive.

Athletes delivered strong performances across the board, setting numerous personal bests and bringing home multiple medals.

Several Lansing lifters earned podium finishes:

  • Maddie Newman – 1st Place, Women’s 181 and Lifter of the Meet, awarded to the strongest pound-for-pound lifter at the competition. Be sure to ask her about the hammer she won with the title.

  • Devyn Cline – 1st Place, Women’s 123

  • Mia Kaaz – 2nd Place, Women’s 114

  • Mikayla Guentehr – 3rd Place, Women’s 165

  • Josh Whitaker – 2nd Place, Men’s 114

  • Nasir Flemon – 2nd Place, Men’s 123

Congratulations to all of our powerlifting athletes and Coach George Shannon on a strong start to the season. We look forward to seeing the team continue to grow and compete throughout the year!
