Lansing High School ACE Mentor Team Earns Design Excellence Award at KC Metro End-of-Year Presentations

Lansing High School students showcased their creativity and real-world design skills on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, during the ACE Mentor Program’s End-of-Year Presentations, held at the AIA Kansas City event space in downtown Kansas City, Missouri.

This year’s Lansing team members were Lauren Foster (12), Marcus Finnigin (12), Jet Peterson (11), Brady Mendence (11), and Patton Mendence (9). They took on the annual design challenge of creating a soccer complex featuring a variety of amenities for the Strawberry Hill area of Kansas City, Kansas.

Lansing USD469 is proud to share that the team received the “Design Excellence Award” (Second Place) for their project, “Legacy Park Design.” Even more exciting, this recognition marks the fourth consecutive year Lansing’s ACE Mentor team has earned a design award.

The ACE Mentor Program serves students across the Kansas City metro area, bringing together schools from Lansing, Liberty, North Kansas City, Olathe, KCKPS, KCPS, as well as Rockhurst and Bishop Miege, to connect students with industry professionals and authentic project experiences.

Lansing’s team was supported this year by a strong group of mentors: Megan Warner, a Lansing graduate with Hollis & Miller Architects; Glenn Bauer of Whiting-Turner Construction; and new mentor Henry Skouby of Thornton Tomasetti Engineering. The program’s teacher sponsor is Industrial Technology teacher Glenn Rosario.

Congratulations to our students and mentors for representing Lansing with excellence, and for continuing a tradition of award-winning work.
