Lansing USD 469 has once again been recognized for excellence in education by the Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) through the 2025 Kansans Can Star Recognition Program. This acknowledgment celebrates districts that are making meaningful progress toward the state’s vision: Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.
In a letter to Superintendent Marty Kobza, Kansas Commissioner of Education Dr. Randy Watson and State Board Chair Cathy Hopkins commended Lansing USD 469 for its exceptional work supporting both the academic and social-emotional growth of students. The district earned recognition in five key areas:
Social-Emotional Growth: Copper
Kindergarten Readiness: Bronze
Academically Prepared for Postsecondary: Copper
Graduation: Bronze
Postsecondary Effectiveness: Bronze
Dr. Watson shared his enthusiasm for Lansing’s continued success, writing, “Lansing has been doing great work with students that deserves to be recognized. Through the Kansans Can Star Recognition Program, I’m able to do just that.”
This recognition directly aligns with Lansing USD 469’s Strategic Plan under the large goal area Define a Successful Graduate. One of the plan’s key action steps is to “Align initiatives to the Kansans Can Vision for Education to ensure our students are meeting their academic and social needs.”
The Kansans Can framework emphasizes preparing students not only for academic achievement but also for lifelong success socially, emotionally, and professionally. Lansing’s recognition in areas such as Social-Emotional Growth and Postsecondary Effectiveness showcases how the district is living out that vision every day.
