LIS Gaga Ball Pitt

Two years ago, Lansing Intermediate School received a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas that allowed the school to purchase its first gaga ball pit. The new addition quickly became a favorite among students.

“It was immediately a hit,” said Principal Martin Altieri. “Our building leadership team agreed that if it remained popular throughout the school year, we would make plans to add a second one.”

That plan became a reality this fall thanks to generous donations from the Lansing Educational Foundation and the Lansing PTA. Their contributions made it possible to order a second gaga ball pit, which the district’s maintenance crew promptly assembled.

“Now more students are able to play and less have to wait to play,” Altieri said. “It’s a great way to get some exercise and have fun with friends.”

The addition of the second gaga ball pit reflects the school’s continued commitment to providing students with opportunities for active play, teamwork, and social connection during recess.
