After 15 years of service to Lansing USD469, Transportation Director Jim Slapper has retired. The Transportation Department honored him with a retirement luncheon on Friday, September 26, where staff gathered to celebrate his years of leadership and commitment to students and families.
As part of the celebration, the department presented Mr. Slapper with two plaques to recognize his service and contributions. His leadership has been instrumental in ensuring safe and reliable transportation for thousands of Lansing students over the years.
Superintendent Kobza spoke at the luncheon, noting that after all his years as superintendent, Lansing’s transportation department is the best run he has ever seen. The success of the department is attributed Mr. Slapper’s leadership of the entire transportation team.
Taking over the role of Transportation Director is Jeff Bohnsack, who previously served as the department’s mechanic. Jeff brings a strong understanding of the department and a commitment to continuing the tradition of excellence Mr. Slapper established.
Lansing USD469 extends its gratitude to Mr. Slapper for his years of service. His impact will continue to be felt for years to come, and we wish him the very best in retirement!
