“Find your battle cry.”
That message echoed through Lansing High School as motivational speaker Kate Garves challenged students to reflect on the way they speak to themselves. She asked, “If you talked to your friends the way you talk to yourself, would they still be your friends?” It was a thought-provoking question that set the tone for her visit, which was part of the Student Council Leadership Conference.
Through her interactive presentation, Kate encouraged students to:
Build a positive internal voice.
Strengthen their communication skills.
Lead with confidence and compassion.
Her message centered on knowing your worth, your power, and your strength, then asking yourself, “What’s your battle cry?” By identifying what drives them, students can grow as leaders who truly see, hear, and understand others, even when it’s not easy.
Kate’s time with our Lions inspired students to step forward with confidence and to lead in meaningful ways. Her words left a lasting reminder: leadership begins with the voice inside and grows stronger when shared with others.
