Lansing USD 469 is proud to announce that Mrs. Libby Stevenson, our talented K–5 art teacher, has been selected to serve on the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Teacher Advisory Board. This board is comprised of educators from across the Kansas City metro who act as liaisons between the museum and local schools, ensuring that art education remains relevant, impactful, and accessible.
Connecting Schools and the Arts
The Teacher Advisory Board provides valuable feedback on museum programming and helps develop offerings aligned with school curricula. Members also share Nelson-Atkins resources with their colleagues, broadening the museum’s reach into classrooms across the region. Board members are selected from a wide range of teaching fields including art, social studies, STEM, language arts, and special education and serve as professional voices in shaping how students engage with art.
About Mrs. Stevenson
Mrs. Stevenson brings with her more than 15 years of experience in education and a deep passion for nurturing young artists. A proud Lansing graduate herself, she holds degrees in visual art (KCKCC), elementary education (Emporia State University), and special education (Emporia State University).
Looking Ahead
Through this new role, Mrs. Stevenson will have the opportunity to help shape professional development programs, contribute to museum initiatives, and inspire other educators to integrate art into their teaching. Lansing USD 469 is honored to see one of our own educators recognized at such a high level and excited to see the positive impact this experience will bring back to our district.
