On September 10, Lansing Elementary School third graders enjoyed a field trip to Kaufman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals. Students experienced a behind-the-scenes look at the ballpark while connecting the visit to hands-on learning activities.
Students toured areas of the stadium, including the press booth, the visiting team locker room, and the home dugout. Along the way, they took part in a historical scavenger hunt that encouraged them to discover the history of baseball and the Royals.
In addition to history, the day included opportunities to think critically and scientifically. Students completed a compare-and-contrast activity with baseball equipment, sparking thoughtful discussions about how the game has evolved. They also conducted a science experiment to explore how the position of the bat impacts the direction of the ball, blending real-world experiences with classroom learning.
Special thanks to third-grade teacher Mrs. Stephanie Atkins for sharing photos that captured the excitement of the day!
