KHVA Celebrating our first year graphic

In our first year as a virtual school, we set a goal to serve 20 to 25 students. By the end of the year, 91 students were enrolled in our program, which showed a clear sign that families across Kansas are seeking flexible, high-quality learning options that meet their needs.

To meet growing student needs, we hired 21 Academic Learning Coaches who have played an essential role in providing personalized support to students and families. These coaches ensure strong communication, consistent check-ins, and help students stay engaged in their learning. Thank you to each of them for all their work!

What began as Lansing Virtual Academy has since changed into Kansas Heartland Virtual Academy (KHVA), a name change that reflects our mission to reach and support students across the entire state in hopes that more can find success in our academy using our Acellus Gold platform.

We’re also very excited to share that Dr. Christina Hoverson will be joining the KHVA team this fall to support students in grades 9–12. She will lead our high school Academic Learning Coaches to make sure students are placed in the right courses to meet graduation requirements, pursue their interests, and reach their potential. Dr. Hoverson will help guide students through post-secondary planning, including college, career, and technical opportunities.

We are proud of the success from our inaugural year and look forward to continued growth. KHVA remains committed to providing flexible, student-centered learning that prepares students for the future!
