We’re proud to share this highlight video from the Center for Reimagining Education (CRE) featuring our Lansing Middle School sixth-grade science team and students!
This school year, Lansing was selected as one of only three districts in Kansas—alongside Bonner Springs and Piper—to participate in a pilot program in partnership with CRE and the University of Kansas. The project challenged educators to reimagine education by integrating project-based learning with artificial intelligence tools, giving students more ownership of their learning and preparing them with future-ready skills.
Our second-hour science classes explored real-world topics of interest, used AI to support their research and creativity, and recently presented their work to peers and staff. Thanks to the program’s success, Lansing has been awarded a $10,000 grant to help expand the initiative into more classrooms next year. Congratulations and well done to Principal Brooks Jenkins, and middle school teachers Alisha Holyfield, Amanda Thomas, and Josh Yoakam.
