The Lansing High School Varsity Baseball Team has capped off a successful season with recognition both on and off the field. Under the leadership of Coach Michael Basler, the team earned a cumulative GPA of 3.455 for the 2024 season, qualifying them for the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association—a national honor celebrating academic achievement in high school baseball programs.
In addition to their success in the classroom, the Lions had a record-breaking eight players receive All-United Kansas Conference (UKC) Awards for their performance on the field:
Bryce Fullen (JR) – 1st Team Infielder
Reid Oakley (SR) – 2nd Team Utility Player
Brady Seber (JR) – 2nd Team Outfielder
Jake Tharnish (SR) – Honorable Mention Pitcher
Zach Grossnickle (SR) – Honorable Mention Pitcher
Chase Legault (SO) – Honorable Mention Pitcher
Aden Leftwich (JR) – Honorable Mention Designated Hitter
Trey Boden (SO) – Honorable Mention Infielder
The recognition didn’t stop there. Three players were named to the 2024 Kansas 5A All-State Team by the Kansas Baseball Coaches Association—the most All-State selections in a single season for Lansing:
Reid Oakley (SR) – 2nd Team Utility Player
Bryce Fullen (JR) – Honorable Mention First Baseman
Chase Legault (SO) – Honorable Mention Pitcher
Lansing Baseball also celebrates 100% college attendance among its senior athletes, with four seniors headed to college—three of whom will continue playing baseball at the collegiate level:

Zach Grossnickle – Neosho County Community College (Baseball)
David Hawley – Johnson County Community College (Fire Science)
Coach Basler shared his pride in the team's accomplishments: "The guys were getting it done in the classroom and on the field of competition. This was a special group."
