Ian Slapper Award

Lansing Middle School eighth-grader Ian Glynos recently earned top honors at the Kansas State Match held this April in Great Bend. Competing in a range of disciplines—including BB Gun, Air Rifle, and Silhouette Shooting—Ian brought home first place all-around in the statewide event.

The competition is part of a 4-H program sponsored by Kansas State University that promotes marksmanship and gun safety. Ian participates as a member of a Wyandotte County-based shooting team and has consistently stood out in youth shooting sports.

Over the years, Ian has earned numerous local and state titles. Just this past fall, he was named state champion in Small Bore and placed third in Muzzleloading. His dedication and skill continue to open doors—this summer, he’ll head to Grand Island, Nebraska, to compete in the National Youth Muzzleloading Championships.

Looking ahead, Ian plans to join the ROTC program in high school and hopes to compete on the Rifle Team. His long-term goal is to serve in the military, where he can continue to pursue his passion for marksmanship.

Congratulations to Ian on this incredible accomplishment—we’re proud to celebrate his success and look forward to what’s next on his journey!
