Lansing High School Senior Cole Hahn Accepted into Harvard University
Lansing USD469 is proud to announce that our very own LHS senior, Cole Hahn, has been accepted into Harvard University. Cole achieved this prestigious honor through his academics and dedication to community service.
As the Student Body President and Class President throughout his high school years, Cole spearheaded numerous initiatives, raising over $3,300 for local organizations and organizing events like the Homecoming Extravaganza, Trunk or Treat, and Late Night. During the pandemic, he initiated a mental health forum and a pen pal program to combat social isolation.
Cole's involvement in various honor societies showcases his academic excellence and commitment to social causes. As the Vice President of the National Honor Society, he dedicated over 30 hours to community service, including organizing meals and gifts for families during the holidays. Additionally, his role as Vice President of the National Spanish Honor Society helped promote Spanish culture in the school, raising funds for Central and South American workers and highlighting the legacy of Frida Kahlo.
Beyond his school community, Hahn represented Lansing High School at the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics' Youth Civic Leadership Institute, engaging in civic workshops and interviewing state senators and representatives. He has also actively contributed to the Leavenworth County Elections, serving as an election worker and supporting the democratic process.
Cole's academic achievements are equally commendable with an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and a 4.14 weighted GPA. He holds the 7th rank among 219 students. He has been honored with the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award, the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation's Certificate of Excellence for his outstanding essay submission, and the AP Scholar Award.
His dedication to equality and justice is also apparent through his recognition as the recipient of the Equal Justice Initiative's 2022 Racial Justice Essay Second Place Award. Cole also is an active student member of the USD469 Health & Wellness Committee, where he advocates for physical and emotional wellness in the district.
Lansing USD469 is proud of Cole's achievements and wishes him continued success as he embarks on this new chapter in his educational journey. His acceptance into Harvard University is a testament to his exceptional character, leadership, and academic prowess.
