Update of Lansing High School Students and Graduates Enrolled in KCKCC PCC - Construction, Biology, HVAC
Lansing USD 469 is proud to highlight our Lansing High School students and graduates enrolled in Kansas City Kansas Community Center Pioneer Career Center (KCKCC PCC) each week.
Construction
Brake Metal
Construction students are learning how to bend metal with a brake press. Students determined their measurements and placed their sheet metal in the brake press to form the shapes and bends needed for their projects.
Vinyl Siding Installation
Construction students built a mock exterior of a house. The students have already learned how to install the doors and windows and now they are learning how to install the siding. Students are attaching sheathing and flashing, starter strips, inside corner pieces, outside corner trim, siding panels and J-trim. Students are using a j-channel notching tool, nail slot punch, snap lock punch, trim nail punch and zip tool to help install the vinyl siding.

Biology
Respiration Lab
Respiration is an exchange of gasses (oxygen and carbon dioxide) which occurs both in the lungs and at the cellular level.
Testing Carbon Dioxide
Biology students used a solution of phenolphthalein and ammonia to test carbon dioxide production. As students used a straw and exhaled their breath into the solution, carbon dioxide gas made the solution change from pink to clear.

HVAC
Motors
HVAC students made mini motors. The students used motor wire, a magnet, copper pipe brackets and AA batteries. The magnetic field makes the wire spin.
