Lansing High School Teacher Brings Julius Caesar to Life with Interactive Lesson (VIDEO)
Lansing High School English Language Arts teacher Liberty Usera is known for his innovative teaching methods that keep students engaged and excited about learning. On Friday, April 21, he took this to a new level when he dressed up as a Roman senator and recited parts of Mark Antony's funeral speech from the play Julius Caesar to greet his students as they entered the classroom.
Mr. Usera's 10th-grade English class was in the middle of reading Act 3 of Julius Caesar, which depicts the assassination of the Roman dictator. By dressing up as a Roman senator and reciting Antony's famous speech, Mr. Usera brought the play to life for his students, making it more engaging and memorable. Mr. Usera also encouraged his students to dress up in Roman times to engage them in the play's world.
