Lansing USD469 Maintenance and Grounds Worker Brings Color and Smiles to District with Thousands of Tulips
In a world where negativity can often feel overwhelming, encountering a little bit of kindness and beauty can be a refreshing experience. Our district is a little more colorful and bright this spring thanks to the hard work and generosity of one of our Maintenance and Grounds workers, Mr. Billy Dupras. Mr. Dupras planted thousands of tulips in several locations across our district last fall, and our Lansing USD469 community is now reaping the rewards.
Using his own funds, Dupras purchased between 7,000 and 8,000 tulip bulbs from a wholesale company and enlisted the help of co-worker Clayton Pfrimmer to plant them in November.
When asked about his inspiration for the project, Dupras said, "It was something cool that I thought of. It was a weed patch, and I wanted to do something to make it look better." He planted the flowers at the district office, by the Maintenance sign, and in several locations at Lansing High School. He even added a smiley face by the staff parking lot to spread happiness and positivity.
Dupras's selflessness and creativity have not gone unnoticed by those in our district. The tulips have become a source of joy, and we are grateful to Mr. Dupras!
