REMINDER: One Pill Can Kill Presentation Will Be Held TONIGHT and Live-streamed
The One Pill Can Kill community presentation is to inform our community about the dangers of Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times more potent than morphine. The presentation aims to raise awareness of the risks of Fentanyl use and abuse and to provide strategies for preventing overdoses.
Scheduled for March 1st at 6:30 pm, the One Pill Can Kill presentation will feature a KCK Police Captain and DEA Task Force officer, firefighter/paramedic, and family members who have lost loved ones due to Fentanyl use. This event is open to parents, students, staff, and community members and will take place at the district auditorium located at Lansing Middle School.
In addition to the community presentation, Lansing High School students will receive presentations on Fentanyl recognition, dangers, and emergency steps for overdoses from a police officer and first responder. After the assemblies, the school will also have additional support for students from their district Mental Health Team.
On February 20th, Lansing High School staff members participated in a training presentation on the dangers of Fentanyl during Professional Development day. This session was designed to educate staff members on Fentanyl use and abuse, how to recognize and respond to overdoses, and how to support students who may be at risk.
It is essential to understand the dangers of Fentanyl and how to prevent its abuse to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. By attending the One Pill Can Kill presentation and participating in related educational initiatives, we can increase awareness and take proactive steps to keep our community safe.
