Lansing Community Comes Together for Successful "Touch a Truck" Event on October 20th
USD 469 Early Childhood and Parents as Teachers paired up with community members on October 20, 2022, for a Fall Touch A Truck Event. This is the second year Lansing USD469 has held the event - last year it was held in the spring. Students and families were able to socialize, climb on and discover different vehicles, blow bubbles, play in sensory bins, and have their faces painted by the outstanding Lansing High School Kays members; Cierra Dominick, Trinity Young, Luna Khayat, Jessi Ritchhart, Ryen Litewski, Emma Miller, and Kaitlyn Smith. The families and students met Lansing Police Officer, Leif French, Lansing Fire Fighters from FD1 Leavenworth County, US Army Soldiers from the local recruiting unit, bus drivers, and large equipment operators from various companies. The evening was a huge success, and fun was had by all who attended. We would like to thank Costco for donating a gift card and our local Mcdonald's for donating free cheeseburgers to all attendees. Their generosity is appreciated. We would like to thank Lansing Fire Department, Lansing Police department, Geiger, Linnaweaver Construction, Dale Verran, Leavenworth Army Recruiting Unit, Thomas Turf and Landscape, Roger Schultz, and the USD 469 Bus Barn. Without all of your cool vehicles and machinery, our night could not have been as successful, educational, and fun.
We would also like to give a shout-out to Cindy Willis and Paige Bell for their work in making the event another tremendous success!
