Early Childhood Students Learn & Grow through Sensory Play Thanks to LEF Grant
Early childhood is the first step in a child's educational experience, and what better way to learn and grow than through play and even better sensory play? Early childhood teachers Lori Daly and Jessica Garner used the grant funds for 'Chillin in Early Childhood" to purchase sensory items and materials for all five classrooms in our program.
Sensory play, using sensory tables and materials such as Orbeez and sand, gives students the freedom to learn and develop with minimal rules while building nerve connections, developing motor skills, problem-solving skills, and conversational skills.
Many children receive necessary input from these different sensory materials and fidgets and use them as a place to break away from the activeness in a classroom and "chill" in early childhood.
