Lansing School District Partners with Lansing First Responders for Bus Rollover Exercise
The Lansing Fire Department and other first responders conducted a bus rollover exercise on Mary St. on Thursday, August 4th, in conjunction with our Lansing USD469 Transportation Department and our Emergency Preparedness Department led by Mr. Kevin McCarley. During the exercise, the first responders used the west parking lot of Lansing elementary school as the volunteer start point and the reunification point.
"Fire District 1 conducted a first-rate training exercise on Thursday, August 4th," said Mr. McCarley. "Our school District was able to support our community first responders by providing student and adult volunteer role-players allowing a level of realism to the exercise. There were a lot of good discussions among the school district bus drivers who observed. We were also able to work through our notification messaging and reunification methods should we ever have an incident like this."
