Lansing Middle School Students Headed to 2022 Bassmaster Junior National Championship!
Lansing middle school students Jonas Lawler-White and Cale Denney are headed to the 2022 Bassmaster Junior National Championship July 29-30. The tournament will be held at Carroll County 1000 Acre Recreational Lake, the largest man-made lake in West Tennessee. The duo and boat captain, Pam Hall, punched their ticket by winning the 2022 Kansas Bass Nation State Tournament at Keith Sebelius Reservoir in Norton County, KS, last month.
The pair brought in four fish on day one, which put them in second place. On day two, the anglers put in the works and were able to weigh in a full bag (five fish), bringing their two-day total weight to 23.33 pounds and earning them a first-place win. This is the first time in Bobcat Bass history to have a team representing them in the national tournament. The team currently fishes with Bobcat Bass out of Basehor, KS.
As many as 70 youth teams are expected to compete for the junior championship at Carroll County 1000 Acre Lake. Each two-angler team is accompanied by a coach who runs the boat and can advise on fishing techniques and patterns. The team’s boat captain for national will be the club’s Vice President, Kyle Streeter.
