Students Having Blast and Getting in Shape during Summer Weights at Lansing High School
Summer Weights at Lansing High School have a fun twist this year with the addition of "Competition Day." Lansing students participate in weights Monday through Thursday and have one day each week where they are divided into teams and can earn points through attendance or winning various competitions.
"These have included med ball volleyball, relay races, and weight room competitions," said Coach Kim Jones. "The students look forward to it, and it has become really competitive."
Summer Strength, Speed, & Conditioning is open for students in grades 2 - 12, and there are still spots for students interested in joining in the fun and getting in better shape. There will be no classes from July 4th to July 10th for the KSHSAA Summer Moratorium, so July 11th is an excellent time for students to start participating.
Students do not have to be an athlete or a member of a sports team to attend. If you are a student-athlete, the Lansing summer strength, speed, and conditioning program will be designed to meet the needs and demands of your sport(s). The focus will be on improving your overall fitness level, injury prevention, and to have fun!
