Thank you to Leavenworth Garden & Civic Club for Donating Trees to Students in Honor of Arbor Day
In honor of Arbor Day, April 29th, the Leavenworth Garden and Civic Club donated trees and shrubs to 7th grade students at Lansing Middle School. As part of their Life Science class, students spent a day researching the trees and shrubs that were donated and then learned how to plant the seedlings. Students now get to take one home to plant in their own yard.
The varieties they donated are good for pollinators, birds or other wildlife, the first 3 are native to Eastern Kansas: Northern Red Oak (Quercus rubra), Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana), Buttonbush (Cephalaanthus occidentalis), and Golden Currant (Ribes aureum).
