Lansing USD469 Welcomes Dr. Alan Penrose as the New High School Principal Starting 2022-2023 School Year
Alan Penrose is excited to join Lansing High School after seven years as the principal of Turner High School. Alan was also an assistant principal in the North Kansas City School District and Dean of Students in USD 500. His first teaching job was with high-risk inmates at the Lansing Correctional Facility. After that, he taught high school business at Don Bosco Charter High School and Winnetonka High School followed by Language Arts at Antioch Middle School.
Penrose serves as a member of the KSHSAA Board of Directors and an Advisory Board member for the Kansas State College Advising Corp.
After high school, Alan joined the Army Reserve as a medic. He then went to college and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Pittsburg State University, a Master of Education from Rockhurst University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Saint Louis University. Prior to his career in education, Alan worked in television news as a photographer and reporter in Indianapolis and Kansas City.
In his spare time, Alan enjoys visiting state and national parks, camping, hiking, or watching his kids’ sporting events. His wife, Catie, is an English teacher, and he has 3 children – KateAnn is studying Elementary Education at K-State, Evan is a 5th grader who plays baseball, Meredith is in 3rd grade and is in competitive dance.
