Lansing High School's National English Honor Society Holds Poetry Slam
April is National Poetry Month! To celebrate, Lansing High School’s National English Honor Society held a Poetry Slam on April 12th in the Lansing High School Library.
Planning for the event involved picking a location, date, and time, and gauging interest in the event. NEHS students set up the event and brought snacks for the performers and audience members to enjoy.
The event featured over ten student performers with many original pieces. The students were given the opportunity to share their pieces or poems that they enjoy. All of the performers did a phenomenal job.
LHS Senior Reece Baker, who helped plan and performed at the poetry slam, reflects, “I enjoyed the chance to practice my public speaking skills as well as share a poem that I believe can relate to everyone.”
The organization plans to hold a poetry slam annually and hopes to have even more performers and audience members next year!
