Mrs. Sander's Second Grade Class Learns the Importance of Saving Money by Armed Forces Bank Rep
Second-grade teacher Mrs. Cheryl Sander finished her students' lesson on money and time with a guest speaker from Armed Forces Bank on Friday, April 1st. Armed Forces Vice-President Ms. Tina Farr talked to the students about currency and the importance of saving money. In her presentation, Ms. Farr gave a history lesson on money, from bartering to currency. She also discussed who was on each coin and why each person was chosen.
Students also learned that money is a symbol of strength in our country, so banks send it to the Federal Reserve Bank to be shredded if it is torn or written on. At the end of the presentation, each student was given a small bag of shredded money as a souvenir to take home.
Mrs. Sander was grateful to have Ms. Farr visit the classroom and said it was a great extension and learning experience for her students.
