Lansing USD469 Fifth Grader Brie Hope Presents our Parents as Teachers with Book about Down Syndrome on 3/21
Monday, March 21st, was World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. March 21st can be written as 3/21, children with Down Syndrome have three 21st chromosomes. Lisa Hope, Lead Parent Educator for USD 469 Parents as Teachers, is the proud Mom of a super special “extra” daughter, Brie. Brie wanted to share a book that helps adults and children understand how to engage with someone who may be different. Brie presented Kelly Faulk, USD 469 Parents as Teachers Coordinator, with a copy of “Different, A Great Thing to Be!” by Heather Avis and Sarah Mensinga to keep and share with Parents as Teachers families.
Kelly Faulk said, “Brie is special to our Parents as Teachers family since she participated in the program, and we have had the pleasure of watching her grow up. Brie is an amazing young lady and a joy to know.”
