Early Childhood Students Experience In-House Field Trip Thanks to Lansing Educational Foundation Grant
Emotion Detectives Jay & Leslie visited our Lansing USD469 Early Childhood students on February 28th for an in-house field trip funded by Lansing Educational Foundation. The juggling pair performed for the students to teach "a mime game about identifying emotions and introducing techniques to manage overwhelming feelings, in a safe and fun environment."
The $1,000 grant, titled "Drama, Drama, Drama in Lansing Early Childhood," is funding several of these types of in-school field trips this school year and addresses the state standards through the Kansas Early Learning Standards in the areas of Mathematics, Science, Creative Arts, Social and Emotional Development, and Approaches to Learning. According to the grant, "research has shown that enrichment experiences in the early years are critical because the brain is developing so rapidly. These field trips expose our students to science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics."
