Staff and Students across Lansing USD469 Celebrate 2-22-22 on Tuesday (VIDEO)
Students and teachers across Lansing USD469 celebrated 2-22-22 last Tuesday with several fun learning activities involving the number two. In Pre-K, students spent time celebrating the unique palindrome date with a "Hip Hip Horray, it's Twosday" theme. Students wore #2 headbands, decorated the number 2, and had two of multiple snacks.
In fourth grade, Mrs. Laurie Holden pulled out all the stops and had a day filled with learning activities involving the number two. She had t-shirts made for each student to wear, and several students wore tutus. The class had a double-bubble contest, measured the surface tension of H20 on a penny, and completed a workbook that included math problems involving the number two and a "Two Peas in a Pod" idiom worksheet.
They also had a special guest, LHS senior Mike Bresser, visit the school to lead a 2-22-22 parade with his "TWO-ba."
In fifth grade, Mrs. Euler's class competed in a Twos Day Reading escape room. They read two passages and had to "unlock" their key for each level by sequencing events in order, comparing and contrasting what had happened, and then finding the cause and effect. Students also competed in 2-minute challenges, collaborating to build the tallest tower with 22 paper 2's. At 2:22, they had a dance party in the 5th-grade commons area.
The day was absolutely "TWO-riffic!"
