Lansing Kindergartners and Fifth Graders Celebrate 100th and 1000th Day at School
Kindergartners and fifth-grade students celebrated their 100th and 1000th day, respectively, on Tuesday, February 8th. Kindergarten students had fun doing activities such as coloring 100 gumballs, jumping for 100 seconds, flipping a coin 100 times, and building 100 towers. They even had a "100 Day" fashion show with t-shirts, and students dressed like they were 100 years old.
Fifth graders celebrated their 1000th day of school because after four years of 180 days of school, plus the 100 days this school year, that puts them at the 1000th-day mark! To celebrate, fifth-grade classes participated in math and ELA activities involving the number 100. Students worked on math puzzles with the powers of 10; They also made a list of their 100 favorite things; read what school was like 100 years ago; read about inventions from 100 years ago; listed 100 nouns, adjectives, and verbs; and ended the day with a 1,000-day snack... "one smart cookie."
