January 18, 2022 Lansing USD 469 COVID-19 Update
Lansing USD 469 shares all COVID-related absences daily via our district app, website, Facebook, and Twitter. We also include the percentage of students and staff absent due to COVID.
Please know, we rely on families to report cases to us, so these numbers will never be 100% accurate. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible and share what we know so our families are kept informed.

Due to the increased COVID cases in our county, Leavenworth County Health Department is no longer assisting with contact tracing. If a child or staff member tests positive in grades PreK - 5, our nurse will send a Skyward email to every student in the affected classroom. Due to the movement between classrooms of students in grades 6 - 12 and the number of students exposed on any given day, we cannot contact trace at the middle and high schools. While our nurses are doing an exceptional job navigating this situation, we are not staffed to perform contact tracing in those buildings due to the rapidly increasing case count. If you have questions about your student's exposure at the middle or high school, please contact Mr. Jenkins or Mr. McKim.
We recommend CDC's guidelines for quarantining:
If You Test Positive for COVID-19
Everyone, regardless of vaccination status:
- Stay home for five days.
- If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after five days, you may return to school.
- You must wear a mask in school for five additional days.
If you have a fever, stay home until your fever resolves.
If You Were Exposed to Someone with COVID-19 (Close Contact or Household exposure)
If you are fully vaccinated:
- If you have no symptoms, you may attend school, but you must wear a mask for ten days.
- If you begin to display symptoms, you must stay home for five days from onset of symptoms. After five days, you may return to school, but you must wear a mask in school for five additional days.
If You Were Exposed to Someone with COVID-19 (Not household exposure)
If you are unvaccinated:
- Stay home for five days from the first day of exposure. After that, you may return to school, but you must wear a mask in school for five additional days.
- Test on day five if possible.
If you develop symptoms, get a test and stay home.
If You Were Exposed to Someone with COVID-19 in Your Household
If you are unvaccinated:
- Stay home for ten days from the first day of exposure. After that, you must wear a mask in school for five additional days.
- If the close contact develops symptoms, you must stay home for five days from 1st day of symptoms. After that, you may return to school, but you must wear a mask in school for five additional days.
- Test on day five if possible.
