Lansing Educational Foundation Holds "Pride Patrol" To Award 2021-2022 Grant Recipients
Lansing Educational Foundation (LEF) held its annual Pride Patrol on Tuesday, October 19th. During the yearly Pride Patrol, LEF representatives surprise their grant recipients by presenting them with a giant check and several small gifts. LEF Board Member, Janelle Moburg, organized this year's Pride Patrol event and attended with Superintendent Dan Wessel, Director of Teaching and Learning Miles Azzeh, LEF President Christine Aus, and LEF representatives John Harris, Chuck Moorehead, Carol Page, and Mary Alice Schroeger.
Even with the cancellation of the Lansing Educational Foundation's most significant fundraisers during the 2020-2021 school year, they could still award $42,625.19 grants to the Lansing School District this year. They awarded twenty-six Educate the Pride grants in the amount of $22,593.35, two Ted LoPresti Memorial grants totaling $1,000.00, one $1,000.00 Autism grant, one $1,000.000 district-level grant, and five buildings grants totaling $4,500.00. In addition to these classroom grants, Lansing Educational Foundation purchased a Clavinova for Lansing Middle School in the amount of $6,226.00, granted $1,500.00 to cover the cost of classified staff at the all-district luncheon in August, awarded $1,000.00 worth of grants to our Teachers of the Year (Janet Moorehead and Vera Daniels) and Educational Support Professionals of the Year (Diane Kelly and Jennifer Zule), and purchased $700.00 in grants for our first-year teachers. LEF also carried over $3,105.84 in grants that were unable to be bought or used last school year due to the pandemic.
This year's recipient of the largest Educate the Pride grant was the Special Education Administration Building. The funds from this grant were used to purchase playground equipment for our youngest Lions in the preschool and daycare.
