- Participated in a high-risk activity with a COVID-19 positive individual during their infectious period OR
- Who were directly exposed to respiratory droplets/excretions for any amount of time.
Per our established protocol, we are coordinating our efforts with the Leavenworth County Health Department regarding who has been in close contact with the student and staff member who tested positive. Any such student or staff member that has been in close contact with the individuals who have tested positive will be notified by a nurse in our district and/or the Leavenworth County Health Department. The Leavenworth County Health Department will require close contacts to quarantine for 10 days. If an individual is a close contact but is FULLY vaccinated and asymptomatic, they will NOT be required to quarantine.
The symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to the regular seasonal influenza and include fever over 100 degrees, coughing, and shortness of breath. Some have reported additional symptoms: a runny nose, sore throat, nausea, lethargy, lack of appetite, vomiting, and diarrhea. Individuals who need medical care should call their medical provider to report their illness prior to seeking care at a clinic, physician’s office, or hospital. Parents of students exhibiting flu-like symptoms or staff exhibiting flu-like symptoms are asked to contact a school nurse, local health authorities or the Leavenworth County Health Department.
We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide you with updates as we know more. For more information about how our district will be handling COVID-19 cases in our district, visit: https://usd469.socs.net/vnews/display.v/ART/5f4d41794f3ad
