Lansing High School Physics Students Have a "Blast" with Rocket Launch Lab! (VIDEO)
Mr. Floetke introduced projectile motion to his Physics students this week using a 2-Liter bottle launcher. According to the lab instructions, "the launcher works by using water and compressed air to propel the rocket into the air."
Students used a graduated cylinder to measure water for the experience and did a practice round to decide the exact amount of water and air pressure needed for the experiment.
They did three different trials:
- As vertical as possible
- At an angle just below vertical (between 75 and 90)
- At an angle just above horizontal, but not below 45 degrees
Students documented the amount of time the bottle was in the air and how far the projective landed from the launcher in each trial.
