Congratulations to Lansing High School Boys Swim Team for a Successful Season!
Lansing boys swim team had an impeccable season, winning the United Kansas Conference championship for the third straight year. Our Lansing swimmers defended their title at home, outscoring the 2nd and 3rd place teams combined.
Below is a list of accomplishments from our Lansing swimmers at the UKC championship:
- 200-yard medley relay: Mike Bresser, Vianney Verzola, Greyson Walker, and Levi Francis took first with a time of 1:47.68.
- 200-yard freestyle: Jakob Blackwell placed second (2:13.76), Geoffrey Stentiford took third (2:13.81), and Devin Alexander placed fifth (2:21.17).
- 200-yard IM: Levi Francis placed second (2:18), John Walck placed third (2:21.43), and Ethan Crumpacker took fourth (2:22.68).
- 50-yard freestyle: Greyson Walker placed first (21.96) and Vianney Verzola placed fourth (24.57).
- 100-yard butterfly: Greyson Walker placed second (55.05) and broke an LHS record. John Walck took fourth (1:02.96) and Ethan Crumpacker took fifth (1:06.68)
- 100-yard freestyle: Levi Francis took first with a time of 54.80 and Jakob Blackwell placed fifth (1:00.30).
- 500-yard freestyle: Mike Bresser took first and had a State Consideration time (5:39.81). AJ Escalante placed third (6:01.14), Driton Shijaku placed fourth (6:06.31), and Noah Mills placed fifth (6:21.99).
- 200-yard free relay: Vianney Verzola, Jakob Blackwell, Levi Francis, and Greyson Walker took first with a time of 1:37.55.
- 100-yard backstroke: Mike Bresser took first place (1:03.19), Joey Barber took second (1:12.44), Anthony Krebs placed third (1:15.84), and Edward Stone placed fifth (1:21.21)
- 100-yard breaststroke: Vianney Verzola placed second with a time of 1:10.33.
- 400-yard free relay: Jakob Blackwell, Ethan Crumpacker, Anthony Krebs, and Driton Shijaku placed third with a time of 4:00.32.
At the State competition held at Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center, the team finished in 13th place, which is the highest finish in Lansing history. They set four school records in the process, and every individual swim was a lifetime best.
Greyson Walker had an outstanding individual performance at state, and Lansing had three first-time individual qualifiers (Levi Francis, Mike Bresser, and John Walck).
The relay team of Vianney Verzola, Mike Bresser, Levi Francis, and Greyson Walker moved up from an 11th place seed to medal with a 6th place finish in the 200 Free Relay. Mike Bresser competed in the 500-yr Freestyle with a lifetime best time, Levi Francis competed in the 200 IM, and Greyson Walker medaled with a 3rd place finish in the 50-yd Freestyle and 2nd in the 100-yd Freestyle, setting two new high school records. He was named 1st Team All State.
