Board of Education Meeting Recap - Monday, February 8, 2021 (Regular Meeting)
During the February 8, 2021 regular Board of Education meeting, the Lansing USD 469 Board of Education:

Discussed the University of Saint Mary Partnership Agreement (MOU).

Superintendent Dan Wessel presented the 2021-2022 school year projected cash balances.

Principal Rob McKim gave a presentation about a possible change to our graduation requirements that would allow students to graduate after their third year of high school with an accelerated schedule.

Principal Rob McKim provided some information about the possible addition of two classes ("Engineering Design and Development" and "Writing for Technical Careers") to the high school curriculum. The board will make a decision on the addition of these two classes during the March 2021 board meeting.

The board voted to approve the purchase of additional busses for our 2021-2022 school year.

The board discussed moving K-5 students back to in-person five days a week. It was decided to keep the current schedule of Monday - Thursday in-person and Fridays remote.

Dan Wessel presented options Lansing USD 469 is looking into to help students that are below benchmark. Examples include: After School Academy (math and reading), summer school, jump start program (two weeks before school year starts), additional training opportunities for our teachers, more small group instruction (once COVID close contact restrictions can be lifted), and parent engagement.

The board voted to approve the MOU with Greenbush for a 2021-2022 virtual school program.

Dan Wessel presented information regarding shortening the academic year. The board will vote on this during the March 2021 board meeting.

Voted to approve the appointment of Brooks Jenkins as Principal of Lansing Middle School.
