Early Childhood Students Participate in "Construction Day" Thanks to Grant from Lansing Educational Foundation! (VIDEO)
Materials used were made possible through a grant by the Lansing Educational Foundation written by Early Childhood Special Education teachers Keri Litewski and Cindy Willis. The grant, titled "Early Childhood Gets STEAMed" was approved for $1,000.
STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art and math. Young children can build a strong foundation for future learning by exploring STEAM preschool skills and concepts through play and discussion, then applying those skills through more play. Other activities included in the grant are as follows:
Mad Science of Greater Kansas City - "Walk on the Moon": It's been over 50 years since humans landed on the moon. How hard was it to get there? Our Lansing students will get a fun and interactive look at how we solved the problems to make "one giant leap for mankind"!
Mad Science of Greater Kansas City - Bugs, Habitats and Hives, Oh My! Our students will learn what makes a bug an insect, where do they live and how do insects protect themselves from all those creatures out there that want them for lunch.
Sunflower Music Early Childhood Music Group - Sunflower Music Therapy - Our students will have the opportunity to experience a fun and engaging music group that targets academic, social-emotional, communication, and fine and gross motor skills.
