Lansing High School Choirs To Be Featured on KSHB-TV Channel 41 and Channel 38 TheSpot
Lansing High School is proud to have two choirs who will be featured on this year's Sounds of the Holidays special put on by our local NBC station, KSHB. Sounds of the Holiday is a locally produced program that will air on 41 Action News station on Christmas morning. This is the 11th year in a row for the Sounds of the Holiday program on KSHB and Mr. Brian White, our Lansing Choir Director, is the only local director to be a part of the recording every year since it began.
Mr. White is incredibly proud of his students, especially in a year that has posed so many challenges. "The students and I worked diligently to put this together given our protocols and knowing that we may not be able to record. Despite the obstacles, the LHS Choirs were able to perform on this program for the 3rd year in a row and for my 11th year in a row."
Mr. White said that normally the choirs perform and are recorded at a location in the Kansas City Metro Area. This year, thanks to LHS technical specialist, Mr. Patrick Inlow, both LHS choirs were recorded at the high school. The Lansing Middle School Band Director, Mrs. Becky Jones, was brought in to accompany the Legacy Singers on one of their pieces.
"I am proud of the students for how they stuck to our plan, how we prepared and did everything needed to set them up for success. No matter the circumstance....masked, socially distanced, several singers quarantined the day of recording...they all responded in a professional manner and remained self-motivated. Although we may not have delivered our best performance ever, this is definitely one of our crowning achievements given what we worked through. I could not be more proud of these groups!"
