Lansing Elementary Teachers Receive Healthy Habits for Life Grant Through Blue Cross Blue Shield
Congratulations to Lansing Elementary staff members Crissy Robinson, Lee Matzeder, Ashley Baker, and Dr. Jennifer Kolb for receiving a $999 grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas Foundation. The "Healthy Habits for Life" grant is being used to help Lansing Elementary School address childhood obesity.
According to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas website, the goal of the grant is to help curb childhood obesity through teaching students "about healthy habits through curriculum and programs that reach them where they spend so much of their time: school. As a young, captive audience, students can be more easily influenced to develop life-long healthy habits and behaviors." It is Blue Cross Blue Shield's hope that education will translate into healthy adults later.
Thank you to Mrs. Robinson, Mr. Matzeder, Mrs. Baker, and Dr. Kolb for their work in getting this funding for our Lansing Elementary students in 2021!
