Seventh Grade Students Learn Life Science through Middle School Gardens
Seventh grade students taking Life Science with Mrs. Stacey Jenkins and Miss Stephanie Major have been having fun getting to know some of the plants from the Lansing Middle School gardens and harvesting some of them to donate to the Lion’s Pantry. Mrs. Jenkins and Miss Major are growing tomatoes, okra, green beans, brussel sprouts, cucumbers, cilantro, spinach, zucchini, and summer squash. The garden ties in nicely with the Life Science curriculum - students are able to follow the life cycle of a plant from seed to plant to fruit. They are also able to learn about decomposition and the water cycle.
This is the fourth year for the gardens at Lansing Middle School. They were funded by Lansing Educational Foundation and Yvonne Wilcott. Click here to here more about the gardens at Lansing Middle School.
