Ms. Barkley creates virtual classroom for her fifth grade students
Fifth grade teacher, Ms. Alena Barkley came up with an innovative way to keep her students more engaged with a virtual classroom.
"Although the year is coming to a close, I found an awesome idea for a virtual classroom to make continuous learning more engaging," said Ms. Barkley. She used old images from their classroom at Lansing Intermediate School (their clock, bulletin board, atlas, etc.) to simulate their new classroom setting.
"In the virtual classroom, students can click on different links and images to take them on virtual field trips, view work from classmates, or read suggested books. For example, each of the books on the bookshelf are linked to a read aloud on Youtube. With the virtual classroom, I hope students will be more engaged and excited to log in to school each morning!"
Great work, Ms. Barkley!
