Leavenworth County Health Department is reporting its second death from COVID19
LEAVENWORTH COUNTY, KAN. (April 17, 2020) – The Leavenworth County Health Department is reporting its second death of a resident from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The individual who died was a male in his 80s who was being hospitalized and was a known contact of a positive case.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of another death in our community and offer my condolences to the family during these difficult times,” said Jamie Miller, Leavenworth County Health Officer.
Tragic results like this are being felt around the world from this virus. Stay at Home orders are put into place to help reduce the spread of this disease in our community. The Health Department strongly urges the public to continue to take appropriate precautions and abide by the stay at home orders. Everyone needs to practice good hygiene, stay informed, practice social distancing, and limit in- person interactions. If you are experiencing symptoms such as cough, fever, or other respiratory problems, call your healthcare provider or an urgent care clinic first to determine if testing is needed. If symptoms are mild, do not go to the emergency room, as this resource needs to remain available for those with the most critical needs.
“Everyone needs to do their part, stay home whenever possible, limit the exposure of your family and community,” said Miller
