Staff award recipients Diane Kelly, Janet Moorehead, and Jennifer Zule are surprised with drive-by car parade (VIDEO)
Lansing Elementary staff and friends had a drive-by car parade on Friday, April 10th to celebrate the announcement of their Elementary Teacher of the Year Janet Moorehead and Educational Support Professionals, Diane Kelly and Jennifer Zule. The group met in their vehicles at Lansing Elementary School at 11:30am and drove by Mrs. Moorehead's, Mrs. Zule's, and Mrs. Kelly's houses to surprise them.
"Diane cried. She didn't even realize there was a line of cars behind us," said Anne Broeker, Lansing Elementary School Secretary. "We told her congratulations, and we needed to keep moving because we were holding up traffic [sic]. She looked at us and then looked over and saw the line of cars and everybody started honking. We started moving forward as the others waved to her and congratulated her."
Amy Zimmerman, a close friend and neighbor to Janet Moorehead came up with the idea of the parade. As soon as others got wind of the idea, it took off. A huge thank you to her husband, Jim Zimmerman, for capturing the video below of the cars passing by Mrs. Moorehead's home.
