Powerlifting team has outstanding showing at state
On February 29, the Lansing girls and boys Powerlifting teams participated in the state competition in Pittsburgh, Kansas. The girls placed 3rd, and the boys placed 14th. The girls lost the state runner-up trophy on a tie breaker to Bonner Springs. Both teams scored 43 total points, and the deciding factor for tie-breaking criteria was the team that had the most 1st place overall individual weight class winners.
"Our kids made a lot of improvement overall from week to week, and we broke a lot personal records throughout the year and at the state meet," said Powerlifting coach, Byron Mays. "Alexis Solomon finished her career with a State Championship in the 165 lb. class after placing 2nd as a Junior. Grayce Martin placed 3rd in the Power Weight Division, Zoe Chandler placed 2nd in the 132 LB class, and Alli Johnson placed 2nd in the 156 LB Class."
It's another great day to be a lion!
