Lansing Middle School Student-Led Conferences have record-breaking parent turnout
Lansing Middle School had an incredible increase in attendance at their spring parent / teacher conferences thanks to the new Student-Led Conference format. Each grade level saw a large increase, which was up from approximately 20% in years past. There were several parents and/or students who were sick and not able to make it in for their scheduled conference. Once those are rescheduled, the attendance numbers will increase even further.
For those students whose parents were not able to attend, Mr. Brungardt, Mr. Jenkins, or another staff member will step in as their guardian so the students can present their student-led conference presentation and classroom accomplishments to an adult.
"We are extremely pleased with the high turnout rate for the student-led conferences," said Assistant Principal, Mr. Brooks Jenkins. "Having close to 600 families in our building for conferences was a nice sight to see as the February conference normally has around 150 parents in attendance. Additionally, we are very encouraged because the initial feedback we received from our parents, students, and teachers was overwhelmingly positive and people were happy with the change in format."
As always, if a parent ever has a concern or wants to discuss their child's progress in any given class, Lansing Middle School recommends emailing or calling that teacher to set up a time to meet.
