Lansing Middle School Principal, Mr. Kerry Brungardt, receives Honor Kansas Administrator Award
The Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) visited Lansing Middle School on Friday, January 31st to surprise Mr. Kerry Brungardt with the Honor Kansas Administrator Award. This prestigious award recognizes those administrators who have demonstrated continuing leadership in developing, improving, and supporting music education within a wider commitment to arts education, i.e., music, theater, visual arts, and dance. According to the KMEA website, "Music educators are aware of the importance of principals and superintendents in creating and maintaining successful music programs. School district policy coupled with administrative management decisions pertaining to budget, scheduling, and facilities often have a long-range impact on arts education. Hence, administrators are key players in molding music education curricula. The Honor Administrator Award is an attempt to encourage and recognize the on-going administrative support of arts education in local school districts of Kansas."
The award was presented to Mr. Brungardt at their January pep rally. "First of all, I am honored and humbled to receive the award; however, in all honesty, it is MY JOB to support not only music educators, but all teachers and all programs," said Mr. Brungardt. "Our music educators are outstanding and they give 100% AND they put so much extra time to provide opportunities for their students. Lansing Middle School’s band and choir programs rival any in the state of Kansas. I have the honor of working with some of the finest music educators in the state of Kansas. So, for them to nominate me makes this award very special."
Lansing School District is lucky to have an administrator so supportive of the arts... congratulations Mr. Brungardt!
