Kansas Association of School Boards meets with Lansing community members, students, USD 469 staff, and school board to start superintendent search
Dr. Brian Jordan and Dr. Marcia Weseman from Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) visited Lansing School District on Wednesday, January 15th to meet with various members of the Lansing community and school district to get a gauge of what superintendent qualities would best fit with Lansing USD 469.
Dr. Jordan and Dr. Weseman met with a total of 75 individuals through out the day on January 15, 2020 - from district office employees, administrators, certified / classified staff, students, community members, and the board of education.
Each group brainstormed over four categories:
- Describe the most important leadership and personal qualities you would like to see in a new superintendent
- Describe or list the strengths and the good points of our district the new superintendent will need to understand and support
- Describe or list the most critical needs of our district the new superintendent will need to understand and address
- What single characteristic or quality will separate the best candidate from the other highly qualified candidates who will apply for the superintendent position
KASB started this process earlier this month by opening a survey to our community to get a gauge of what the general population would like to see in a superintendent. The response from the survey was wonderful, with over 500 individuals giving feedback.
The next step in the process is gathering the data to help KASB narrow down the list of candidates. The board of education will meet on January 27th to select who will be interviewed for the position.
