A Message from Dr. Stufflebeam
Parents, Guardians, and Colleagues:
The 2018-2019 School Year is in the home-stretch. It’s been a tremendously successful year and we appreciate your help and support while we continuously improve our service to Lansing families! I wanted to update you about assessment and student success information.
Kansas State Assessments scores are now available in your child’s student portfolio in Skyward. In order to access the report, login to Skyward and, on the left hand menu, select portfolio. The assessment scores are labeled 2018-2019 State Assessment English, Math and Science.
Please note that all students in grades 3-8 and 10 took the English and Math assessments. Students in grades 5, 8 and 11 took the science assessments. If a score is not available for your child, please contact your child’s school and they can help you gain access to the report if available.
The Kansas State Department of Education has produced a document to help understand the score report that is in your child’s portfolio. It can be accessed at https://ksassessments.org/sites/default/files/documents/scorereports/KAP_Parent_Guide_2019.pdf.
There is more information on the assessments at www.ksassessments.org/scorereports. Click on the plus sign next to “For Parents” for additional information on Performance Levels and Example Test Questions.
On a related note, I’ll communicate information in August about our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) plans for 2019-2020. You may recall that MTSS screens students in the academic areas of math and reading and we provide additional interventions for students who need additional support.
Please let me know if I can be of any service. Thank you again for supporting Lansing USD 469 and Kansas public education!
Darrel Stufflebeam, Superintendent of Schools
