Lansing High School students deliver checks from tremendously successful Late Night Lock-In
Seniors Nate Wilson and Pablo Montiel deilvering check to Shelter of Hope on April 4, 2019
The Lansing High School Student Council hosted their annual Late Night Lock-In on March 7th and raised an impressive $5,615! The event lasts from 10pm to 2am each year and is meant to raise money for a good cause, while allowing the students to connect and have a great time.
To bring in money for the event, students had to sign up in teams of ten and raise $500 per team. The event had a tremendous response with students from various groups and activities attending. The student council provided games, karaoke, inflatables, obstacle courses, food, and prizes for various activities throughout the evening.
Student body president, Nate Wilson, and senior representative, Pablo Montiel, had the pleasure of presenting a $4,430 check to the Leavenworth Shelter of Hope on April 4. Their organization welcomes individuals and families who might find themselves without a place to call home, and the money raised will help get them back on their feet. The shelter was extraordinarily appreciative for the money donated to them.
The remaining $1,185 was donated to the Social Work account at Lansing High School. The funds in this account are used to go directly back to the students in need at Lansing High School to purchase items such as clothing, food, and personal hygiene products. Mrs. Davis, the social worker at Lansing High School, identifies the needs of students in her school and is able to use the funds to purchase items that will help relieve their situation.
If you know someone who could benefit from the items provided by Mrs. Davis, please contact her at rebecca.davis@usd469.net or one of the guidance counselors (Kristie Wessel at kristie.wessel@usd469.net or Wes Cackler at wes.cackler@usd469.net).
If you would like to donate to the Lansing High School Social Work account, please send a check to Mona Hauver at Lansing High School at 1412 147th Street, Lansing, KS 66048 with “Social Work Account” in the memo.
