Lansing Elementary School Counselor, Mrs. Bachtel brought her therapy dog Finley to school on January 28th to teach dog safety to the Parents as Teachers playgroup. The playgroup had children ages three to six years old and were first taught the "1, 2, 3s" of greeting a dog:
-
Ask the Dog’s Guardian
-
Ask the Dog- not with words, but with body language
-
Pet the Dog- If the guardian says yes and the dog says yes, then the children can pet the dog.
Once they learned the steps, they had a wonderful time practicing on Finley.
Good boy Finley and great job Little Lions!
